Chairs made from tubing and rods often require a cushion to enhance seating comfort. With Alisea, I aimed to overcome this limitation by pairing a rod-filled backrest with a molded expanded metal sheet seat. This approach creates a dialogue between these two aesthetics while fully leveraging the company’s technical expertise. The molded metal sheet acts as a kind of metal fabric, replacing the cushion and offering optimal support. The result is an exceptionally comfortable, lightweight, and highly stackable chair that merges the distinctive aesthetics of metal rods with the comfort of expanded sheet metal. Also available with armrests, where the outlining tube wraps around the backrest, dividing it into two and creating a product with its own distinct identity.
